Rodeo is on edge
The recent town meeting in Rodeo demonstrates a disturbing trend with our elected officials. When they can't deliver what they campaign for, they creatively blame their own constituents for their shortcomings.
County Supervisor Gayle Uilkema and Sheriff Warren Rupf addressed a full house of Rodeo residents and stated that while serious crime has increased, they intend to cut our police protection by 50 percent.
They state that our "resident deputy" will not be available after March and that we, the constituents, have to come up with a plan to protect ourselves. Isn't that Sheriff Rupf's job? To provide safety for the community?
I wonder if these two would be so quick to turn their backs on the community if this were an election year. Maybe they would have stayed to answer the dozens of questions from the residents instead of heading for the door.
